We are from Iowa and travel to New Orleans often. We always stop at The Cabin for lunch. It is our favorite place to eat when we are down there. The atmosphere and service and especially the food are excellent. Thank you!!! We will see you the third week of March. The Loves

Wish you had a link from the Louisiana Tourism/Plantation Country/Restaurant webpage.

I got the website address from your email link.

WONDERFUL website; beautiful pictures. Have visited the restaurant at least 5-6 times...plan to come back as often as possible. Great food and decor. Especially enjoyed the cajun fiddler last time we were there.

My husband and I are going to New Orleans in June. When we decided to go, he said, "Hey let's go to that little restaurant we ate at 22 years ago!" It made quite an impression on us. And we will be back in June! We are going to Edgard to search down my ancestors. So we will definitely drop in for lunch!!

Love your projects. I think it is wonderful to see some one so dedicated to saving something so precious. So many people neglect the past to push ahead. You are an example you can preserve it and still prosper. May God bless you and your future restorations. I someday hope to own a piece of the past.

Every year my father, Emile Decker (age 72), myself, Kenneth Decker Sr. (age 49), and my son, Kenny Decker, Jr. (age 21) make our annual 3 day retreat at the Manresa Retreat House in Convent, Louisiana. We are proud to Men of Manresa in our 1st Sunday in Lent group!

It has been a long tradition that before our 3 day retreat begins that "Grandfather, Son, & Grandson" have our annual lunch at The Cabin and afterwards we drive over to Manresa, regester, meet 'ol friends again, and commence our 3 days of silence.

Today is Sunday, February 17, 2002...the 1st Sunday in Lent. Today we go to Manresa for our retreat. Today The Decker Men will enjoy lunch at The Cabin!

I lived in the New Orleans area for 28 years and visited The Cabin. I left the area after my spouse passed away in March 1998.

I am coming back to the New Orleans area to be a "tourist" in early April. I will be on The River Road for a couple of days and I am staying at Tezcuco and will come by The Cabin to "pig out!"

Do you have a Souvenier Shop?

Look forward to visiting you soon!

I worked at the Liquid Carbonic plant in Geismar and at the Convent Chemical plant at Convent in the early 1980's. One of my fondest memories are the lunches that I had at The Cabin. I have not had the opportunity to come back to the restaurant since then. I look forward to the day that I get back. The food was excellent. As a Louisianian (born and raised in Alexandria) I love the Cajun Food and the LSU TIGERS. Tulane stinks.

God Bless

Just got back from Louisiana and a highlight of our trip was lunch at The Cabin. My husband told me that your cornbread was even better than mine, so if you ever divulge the recipe (or sell it like the buttermilk pie one), let me know. We loved everything we had and will be back whenever in the state. Thanks for a wonderful memory!

24 years ago, we embarked on a driving trip (off the interstate) from Springfield, IL to New Orleans, using an intinerary from the June 1978 isuue of Better Homes and Gardens magazine. The Cabin was mentioned in the article as a good place to eat. While looking through some old vacation items, I came across the article from Better Homes and Gardens and remembered the excellent red beans and rice and iced tea in fruit jars. We have talked of repeating that vacation and will certainly stop by again for red beans and rice. I was so glad to find your website and see that The Cabin is still in business. Blessings to all of you.

We are from Pensacola, FL. We found The Cabin quite by accident several years ago while on a road trip Out West. We were going to have an "on-the-road" breakfast in New Orleans, the morning we started out, but got caught in a horrible traffic jam and decided to just drive on through. Your logo on an interstate exit sign intrigued us, and the rest is history. Since our son is stationed at an Army base in the Mojave Desert, we drive out West several times a year now. A stop at The Cabin on the way out and on the way back is mandatory. We start our trip with you, and end our trip with you, and haven't been disappointed yet! Keep an eye out for us in May, we'll be headed that way! Thanks for the incredible food and wonderful hospitality that you serve up consistently...

Hello! My three girlfriends and I were vacationing in New Orleans this past May and it was recommended that we stop by The Cabin for lunch. We were so glad we did and had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere and decor was wonderful and quite interesting. I particularly loved the landscape and plantation picture carvings! It was all just so wonderful and thank you so much for adding to our vacation memories.
